Today is St Georges day in the UK and while we all celebrate St Patricks day by smothering almost every object with clover and offering gallons of Guinness, not a lot is done to celebrate our patron saint.
History claimed that George a modest soldier showed example of bravery in defense of the poor and the defenseless and of the Christian faith. George apparently held the rank of tribune in the Roman army and was beheaded for protesting against the Emperor’s persecution of Christians. Legend has it that he also slayed a dragon but was first credited to him in the twelfth century, long after his death.
There are many versions of story of St George slaying the dragon, but most agree on the following:
St. George had travelled for many months by land and sea until he came to Libya. Where he met a hermit who told him that everyone in that land was in great distress, for a dragon had long ravaged the country.’Every day,’ said the old man, ‘he demands the sacrifice of a beautiful maiden and now all the young girls have been killed. The king’s daughter alone remains, and unless we can find a knight who can slay the dragon she will be sacrificed tomorrow. The king of Egypt will give his daughter in marriage to the champion who overcomes this terrible monster.’
So determined was George that the following morning he made his way to the village on his steed where he told the princess to return to her home and confronted the dragon and eventually slayed it, piercing it in its heart.

This morning I had to go put my recycling box out so opened my gate to take it out when my foot slipped on something, when I put the box down thats when I noticed a now squashed pile of doggie doos on the pavement in front of my back gate, god it’s so bloody annoying, I mean if you have a dog and it does it somewhere public, bloody clear up after you, a majority of dog owners have respect and take along there scented bags for poop scooping but there is the odd few that don’t, usually the young owners with their pitbulls and staffies, they just don’t want the embarrassment of being seen cleaning up s..t. Not so long ago my stepsons were rolling around on the patch of grass out the back of our house, I must have sounded like a right miserable old cow when I told them to get up, even though I explained their might be doggie doos on it.
If I ever get to catch anyone who let’s their mutt pooping in front of my gate again and don’t bother picking it up beware I’ll find out where you live and s…t on your doorstep.

Miss B’s hair salon is in danger of being closed down by a local gangster who gives her an eviction notice. The neighborhood and her staff try to get together and raise the money that will keep the salon open.
This film was supposedly called a comedy, I have a sense of humor but this film totally bored me, there was one or two moments where I might of had a snigger, there were lots of scenes where it seemed pointless, especially involving one of the girls philandering boyfriends. Not worth watching, your better off washing your hair.

The true tale of Harry Houdini. He arrives in Edinburgh for the grand finale of his world tour in 1926 and his ingenious near-death escape stunts captivate his audiences, however, he is more intrigued by notions of the afterlife so sets challenges to prove that physics are bogus. During his tour Houdini (Guy Pearce) offers $10000 to anyone who can contact the dead and reveal the last words uttered by his dying mother, enter Mary McGarvie (Catherine Zeta Jones), a hustler with a stage routine that’s a combination of trickery and glamor, and her nine-year-old daughter Benji. But while Houdini and Mary try to outsmart each other they form an undeniable passion overlooked by Mary’s daughter Benji and Houdinis stagehand.

An enjoyable film, though it’s not action packed, it’s focused on the relationship between him and the psychic rather than his acts. worth watching if you just want to sit back and chill.

I’m seriously thinking about becoming a vegetarian, I think what has made my mind up is watching a programme the other night where Chinese slaughtered a pig because there was a death in the village (Bodyshock, I Am The Elephant Man), I can still hear the squeals now.

I don’t really eat a lot of meat anyway, if I do it’s mainly chicken, even so another programme I watched a few weeks back made me think twice about what I was sticking in my mouth. I can’t see myself eating that dodgy stuff known as Tofu so will stick to things such as pasta, fish and vegetables, no doubt if I search the net I will come up with some interesting tasty recipes that doesn’t involve eating meat.

This is going to be a bit tough for me when it comes to cooking as my fella is very much a meat eater and loves his bacon and black pudding or steak and chips, I just know the smell is going to be torture, but at least I won’t feel guilty by participating, I’d rather hear chickens clucking, cows mooing, pigs oinking and cute little lambs bouncing around than sitting roasted, boiled or fried on my dinner plate.

A great animation about an elephant who discovers there is another world on a speck of dust that is balancing on a clover. He decides that he has to save their world by taking them somewhere safe, but it doesn’t come easy as no-one believes him, Kangaroo thinks he is nuts and takes it upon herself to rid of the clover, enlisting Vulture and Apes to destroy the speck. Will Horton manage to save the world or will Roo succeed. You will have to watch it to find out.

A nice little kiddies film which the parents will enjoy just as much, worth watching.

Like plenty of other bloggers finding out Entrecard was planning on a new system was a bit of a surprise but also quite exciting as it meant that things could change in a big way, especially for those who were getting left behind in the pricing stakes, I am slowly getting used to it now it’s been running a few days, but it’s not without it’s flaws.
I got my better half to sit and drop cards for me while I was writing for my blog (bless him, he really knows how to show me he loves me) and we all know how tiring it can be and time consuming, especially when your stopping to read most of the blogs your dropping on. Getting to the point, when he refreshed the page on the dashboard, even though he dropped well over 150 it showed that he hadn’t dropped any, after seeing how annoying it was for him I decided to drop a few cards for this blog, exactly the same happened to me, luckily I only dropped about 20 or so.
Entrecard seemed like a good idea at the time, don’t get me wrong if it hadn’t been for Entrecard I doubt I would have any visitors let alone readers, but it is starting to get a bit screwy with all these new things that are happening lately. Come on Entrecard sort yourselves out.
Everyone accepts teething problems but hell, at this rate you’ll be wearing dentures in no time.
