I Am Legend,How Far From The Truth?

Feb 1, 2008 Author: Ella | Filed under: Scientific Stuff

I watched I am legend again the other day and it got me thinking, how far is it from the truth.

I mean what with all theses scientific experiments from stem cells to cloning as well as trying to find cures for illnesses such as cancer and infectious diseases like Aids. Do these scientists really know what they are dealing with, it’s not impossible for something to go drastically wrong, I sincerely hope they do find cures. The thought of being left alone while everyone else is creeping round like zombies looking for their next lunch, is pretty scary, well and me talking bollox really, but it could happen.

what would I do if I was faced with this situation… hell I’d sit on my sofa and wait for my fate, not before I’ve had a few vodka and red bulls and scared myself shitless with some good horror movies.

so with that my blog reading friends

What are your comments on scientific experiments, do you agree/disagree with what they are attempting to do?

And what would you do in your final hours, before being sushi for zombies

Can We Save Our Planet? Or Is It Too Late

Jan 31, 2008 Author: Ella | Filed under: General Blog

Well what a day, the winds are up snow is falling and one poor soul has lost his life because of it. Our climate is forever changing, soon it will be scorching in winter and freezing in the summer. Everyone goes on about carbon footprints and the impact it has on the ozone, advertising how we should reduce it. Well OK we do our part by switching off more lights and not leaving electrical items on standby, but what about countries like China, no offense, but they have all them blazing lights and more electricals than most of Europe put together. Another example is Las Vegas, all that energy is affecting the ozone, so how are they going to reduce it. Even if the whole of Europe makes these changes, it would not put a dent in the repair of the ozone, as places like China and America make up for it tenfold. Our ozone is repairing gradually, but if these places used less energy, then our generation or the next might just possibly see the results of a  healthy ozone. If that happened then we would still see polar bears living in their habitat rather then in zoos, there would be less natural disasters like Tsunamis and earthquakes, plus our world just might have the opportunity to evolve, rather then dissolve.

Rape Victim Wins Rights To Sue Her Lotto Rapist

Jan 30, 2008 Author: Ella | Filed under: Crime

I was glad to hear the news this morning that  the jury sided with a rape victim who was trying to claim compensation from her rapist (see link)

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/itn/20080130/tuk-lotto-rapist-victim-wins-right-to-su-dba1618_1.html

Why the hell should fiends like the rapist  be allowed to win any kind of money whatsoever. He committed a crime and therefore should not have the opportunity to even buy tickets. The poor woman /women involved have to suffer the consequences for the rest of their lives, whilst he swans around as if nothing has happened and basks himself in luxuries. I hope she has half of his millions as she deserves it, but that still does not compensate her for what happened. As for his millions, I think it should go to rape victims units, towards any counseling that they may need. There should be a rule on any gambling that no criminals are allowed to participate, and if they do, and are proved to be criminals, should have it confiscated and divided between the causes of the proven crime, In this case Rape.

Grim Reality Of Human Trafficking And The Sex Trade

Jan 29, 2008 Author: Ella | Filed under: Crime

I saw an article today on This Morning which I found distressing as well unbelievable in which children are being sold as slaves to people (see link)

http://www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMorning/features/Sextrafficking/default.html     Published: Tuesday, 29 January 2008, 10:51 am

Also to be seen   http://www.itv.com/news/  10 pm GMT on ITV

The reporter  lived among these criminals and posed as a trader. In one instance it shows him being offered a young girl of fourteen for just 800 Euros, equivalent to £500. Apparently her family had sold her to these traffickers, from which she managed to run away from to join a government run home. Where she was abused by male residents, so again, went back to the traffickers because they offered her food and a roof over her head. At the very young age of 9 she became a prostitute. I can only imagine the pain and suffering this poor young girl has suffered and up to the day the reporter rescued her, had to endure. I sincerely hope that this is not the case for little Madeleine McCann. Hopefully this is going to make people aware that this still happens in Britain as well as places in Eastern Europe.

Unfortunately Human Trafficking and the Sex Trade will never cease, for as long as there are people and perverts who are willing to pay for these children it will be a vicious circle .

Dancing on ice talented or talentless

Jan 27, 2008 Author: Ella | Filed under: Dancing On Ice

As a viewer of TV shows such as Dancing On ice , I can’t help but think that some of the stars are actually has beens who want to be recognised yet again, after all some of them have not been in the limelight for years. Fair-play to them though ,as they are doing something which is completely out of their comfort zones , I mean, I can’t even stand on ice , let alone dance on the stuff. I really felt for Micheal Underwood this week, as he was clearly devastated when told his ankle was broken and could not continue with the show, he was genuinely enjoying the experience, more than I can say for some who I shall not mention… then you have the competitive ones who are determined to show they have got more then acting , or singing skills lets face it some of them have got neither. So blog readers what are your opinions on the subject , are these stars really talented in this new field or just trying to make a bigger name for themselves?
